What's the cheapest and best radio scanner on the market (to be used within the United Kingom)? Preferably I'd like to scan all available frequencies, but a wide range of frequencies will do for now.
Also, are radio frequency scanners legal in the United Kingdom?

This is an old relic of mine.
The Uniden Bearcat 50XL, one of the first handheld scanners that was manufactured by Uniden.
And my very first scanner when i bought many years ago.

I am thinking of getting a scanner and wonder why they call some programable?
they let you program the frequency that you want to hear get a betty bearcat book at your local radio shack and there are thousands of them to pick from

scanner signals?
I have an older scanner and I can only receive weather signals
do I need a new digital scanner?
Bart - I have been a scanner listener for years and I have never heard of "broadband" when it comes to scanners. Are you sure you don't mean "digital"?
